BELIEFS
You will find an abbreviated version of our Statement of Faith below.
THE HOLY SCRIPTURES.
We believe that the Holy Bible is:
- SUPERNATURALLY inspired
- TRUTH without error
- THE complete and final revelation of the will of God to man
- PRESERVED for English-speaking people through the King James Bible (Authorized Version 1611)
- 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-21; Psa. 119:105; Psa. 119:130; Luke 24:25-27; John 17:17; Luke 24: 44-45; Prov. 30:5-6; Rom. 3:4; I Pet. 1:23; John 12:48; Isa. 8:20; Eph. 6:17; Rom. 15:4; John 5:39; John 5:45-47; Psa. 19:7-11; Acts 1:16; Acts 28:25; Psa. 119:160; Luke 24: 44-45; Psa.119:89; Eph. 6:17; Luke 16:3; Psa.119:89; Prov. 30:5-6; 1 Pet. 1:23; Rev. 22:19; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21
THE TRINITY.
We believe:
- THERE is only one, living and true God
- IN a perfectly unified Trinity
- THE three persons of the Trinity are the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost
- Ex. 20:2-3; Gen. 17:1; 1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; John 4:24; Psa.147:5; Psa. 83:18; Psa. 90:2; Jer. 10:10; Ex. 15:11; Rev.4:11; I Tim. 1:17; Rom. 11:33; Mark 12:30; Matt. 28:19; John 15:26; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 1 John 5:7; John 10:30; John 17:5; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Cor. 2:10-11; Phil. 2:5-6; Eph. 2:18; 2 Cor.13:14
THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST.
We believe that Jesus Christ:
- IS the eternal Son of God
- BECAME man without ceasing to be God
- WAS conceived by the Holy Spirit
- WAS born of the virgin Mary
- IS God manifest in the flesh
- LIVED an absolutely sinless life
- PAID the sin debt for humankind through his voluntary death
- LITERALLY and physically rose the third day after His crucifixion
- IS ascended to Heaven and seated at the right hand of God the Father
- Isa. 7:14; Isa. 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8;Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; Eph. 1:7; 1 Pet. 2:22, 24; Peter 1:3-5;Acts 1:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 9:24; Heb. 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2
THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
We believe the Holy Spirit:
- IS a divine person
- EQUAL with God the Father and God the Son
- OF the same nature as God the Father and God the Son
- WAS active in creation
- INDWELLS and seals every believer
- ASSISTS believers in the understanding and application of Scripture
- BESTOWS spiritual gifts to every believer, equipping them to do the work of the ministry
- BESTOWED temporary sign gifts (speaking in tongues and gift of healing) that gradually ceased as New Testament Scriptures were completed and their authority established
- John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14; Eph. 1:17-18; Eph. 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27; Rom. 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28; Eph. 4:7-12; 1 Cor. 1:22; 1 Cor. 13:8; 1 Cor. 14:21-22
SALVATION.
We believe that salvation:
- IS completely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
- IS a free gift intended for all who will receive it
- IS made possible by the suffering and death of Jesus Christ as payment for our sin
- IS complete and secure in the resurrection of Jesus Christ
- GUARANTEES the believer will live in Heaven forever with the Lord upon physical death
- MEANS that believers are forgiven of all past, present, and future sins, being made righteous in the sight of God as the Bible states
- MAKES the believer a “new creature” through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
- Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:11; Rom. 3:24; John 3:16; Matt. 18:11; Phil. 2:7; Heb. 2:14; Isa. 53:4-7; Rom. 3:25; 1 John 4:10; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; John 10:18; Phil. 2:8; Gal. 1:4; 1 Pet. 2:24; 1 Pet. 3:18; Isa. 53:11; Heb. 12:2; 1 Cor. 15:20; Isa. 53:12; Heb. 9:12-15; Heb. 7:25; 1 John 2:2; Titus 3:5-7; Rom. 1:17; Hab. 2:4; Gal. 3:11; Rom. 4:1-8; Heb. 10:38; Acts 13:39; Isa. 53:11; Zech. 13:1; Rom. 8:1; Rom. 5:9; Rom. 5:1; Matt 12:31; Acts 20:21; Mark 1:15; Acts 2:37-38; Luke 18:13; Rom.10:13; Psa. 51:1-4; Psa. 51:7; Isa. 55:6-7; Luke 12:8; Rom.10:9-11; John 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; Luke 5:27; 1 John 5:11; John 3:6-7; Acts 2:41; 2 Pet. 1:4; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:11; 2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:13; John 1:12-13; Gal. 5:22; Eph. 5:9; 1 Thess. 1:4; Col. 3:12; 1 Pet. 1:2; Titus 1:1; Rom. 8:29-30; Matt. 11:28; Isa. 55:11; Rev. 22:17; Rom. 10:13; John 6:37; Isa. 55:6; Acts 2:28; Isa. 55:7; John 3:15-16; 1 Tim. 1:5; 1 Cor. 15:10; Eph. 2:4-5; John 5:40; John 3:18; John 3:36; John 8:31-32; Col. 1:21-23; 1 John 2:19; Matt.13:19-21; Rom. 8:28; Matt. 6:20; Psa. 121:3; Heb. 1:14; 1 Pet. 1:5; Phil. 1:6; John 10:28-29; John 16:8; Rom. 8:35-39
THE ETERNAL SECURITY AND ASSURANCE OF BELIEVERS.
We believe that:
- ONCE saved, a person is kept by God’s power and remains secure in Christ forever
- OUR secure salvation should never be used as a reason or “license” to willfully sin, as the Bible explicitly forbids
- John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; Rom. 8:38-39; 1 Cor. 1:4-8; 1 Pet. 1:4-5; Rom. 13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15
THE CHURCH.
We believe that the local church:
- IS made up solely of born-again believers, those saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
- IS autonomous and free of any external authority or controls
- IS a congregation of baptized believers, with Christ as its head, associated by a covenant of faith
- HAS two offices – Pastor and Deacons – with duties as outlined in the New Testament
- HAS two Scriptural ordinances – water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper
- 1 Cor. 12:12-14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23; Eph. 5:25-27; Acts 14:27; Acts 20:17, Acts 28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11; Acts 13:1-4; Acts 15:19-31; Acts 20:28; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 1 Cor. 5:4-7, 13; 1 Pet. 5:1-4; Eph. 1:22-23; Eph. 4:1; 1 Cor. 12:4; Acts 14:23; 1 Tim. 3:1-7; 1 Tim. 3: 8-13
Baptism.
We believe that Scriptural baptism:- is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
- demonstrates our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, Jesus Christ
- is necessary for church membership and for partaking in the Lord’s Supper
- Acts 8:36-39; Matt. 3:6; John 3:23; Rom. 6:4-5; Matt. 3:16; Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:3-5; Col. 2:12; Acts 2:41-42; Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-28
THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST.
We believe:
- IN the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ.
- CHRIST will rapture His church prior to the tribulation period
- AT the end of the Tribulation, Christ will visibly return with His saints to establish his Messianic Kingdom
- Ps. 89:3-4; Dan. 2:31-45; Zech. 14:4-11; 1 Thess. 1:10, 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10; Rev. 19:11-16; Rev. 20:1-6
CREATION.
We believe:
- THAT the Genesis account of creation is neither allegory nor myth, but is a literal, historical account of God’s creation of the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods
- THAT evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution are unscriptural theories of origin
- Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11; Acts 4:24; Col. 1:16-17; Heb. 11:3; John 1:3; Rev. 10:6; Rom. 1:20; Acts 17:23-26; Jer. 10:12; Neh. 9:6
MISSIONS.
We believe:
- GOD has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations
- GOD has commissioned the church to share the Gospel with every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group
- Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:19-20
